Preparatory Work Before Installing Graphite Crucibles

Graphite crucibles are frequently used in the smelting of alloy tool steel and the melting of non-ferrous metals and their alloys due to their excellent thermal conductivity and high-temperature resistance. Here are the preparatory steps before installing a graphite crucible:

  1. Inspection of the Furnace:
    • Check the inner wall and the bottom of the crucible furnace to ensure they are intact and undamaged.
    • Inspect the furnace for any remaining slag and clean it thoroughly if present.
  2. Selecting the Graphite Crucible Base:
    • The crucible base should match the shape of the crucible bottom and be slightly larger (about 2 cm).
    • Choose an appropriately high crucible base for different types of crucible furnaces.
    • Avoid using old or damaged crucible bases, as they can reduce the crucible’s lifespan.

Additional Precaution:

  • After heating, do not place the graphite crucible directly onto a cold metal surface to avoid damage from rapid cooling.

Following these steps ensures proper installation and optimal performance of the graphite crucible, extending its service life and maintaining its effectiveness.
